With the electoral process over and the upcoming presidential inauguration the rules of the game will change. We, as business owners, must take a close look at the new scenario and stay alert.  We have to analyze how the changes will influence clients and vendors and how the economy and finances could affect the company.

With the current economic crisis many businesses are complaining and reporting losses.  Others are finding opportunities and rapidly growing.  Look, observe, Act! Those words are engraved in my mind and I say them every morning.  Scenarios can change by the minute.  How do they affect my business? Where are today’s opportunities?

A good example is my recent trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a film festival.   In the morning temperatures were in the 40’s and I wanted breakfast.  However there was only one restaurant open with a real long line.  Later in the evening, about 10PM, after going to the film festival I wanted to share friends and discuss the material I had just seen.

Again there were no places open.  The food and restaurant businesses in the area of Hot Springs needs to be more alert, flexible and in tune with their environment to accommodate to the consumer needs thereby capitalizing on the opportunities.

Business owners need to constantly monitor the market, the environment and what is happening in their community and the country.  They must have the ability and flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.  Changes and crises can also present opportunities. Stay alert and flexible; that is the winning difference.
